What do I have to do to get a six pack!?

October 23rd, 2010

Ok so I am a 20 year old male and I have been trying to get a six pack forever. Earlier I never tried THAT hard but in recent months I have been taking it a lot more serious. Now I run like 2 and 1/2 miles every other day. I eat healthy, like tuna or turkey sandwiches, salads with lite ceaser dressing, healthy cereal like frosted miniwheats, and I also eat scrambled eggs every morning. I do sit ups and other ab exercises every 2 days, lift weights every 2 days, and I just am not getting the results I want. Honestly I don’t know how hard you have to work to get a six pack but maybe my genetics just aren’t as good as others. I’m still in good shape but I want to be chiseled and lean. Any tips for me?? This is a huge goal of mine

maybe you arent working your abs hard enough. as a rule of thumb for me, if i dont feel sore the next day, i didnt work hard enough. your abs might also be used to your routine. try changin it up by doin excercises in a different order, or add new excercieses.

I need help with an abs workout, people who know what they are doing ok?

October 22nd, 2010

Ok i need help. i used to have a good six pack, and now i have lost it. I need an abs workout that will get me a good six pack. the sooner the better. So can anyone tell me how to get one? tell me what to do, what days to do it, and for how long. tell me what to eat and drink, and whatever else u think is usefull to know.

jogging is an excellent exercise because it let you lose weight
evenly throughout your whole body. If you want to lose weight in
specific areas, you should target them with exercises. If they are
your problem areas, they will be very difficult to tone. You will have
to work double on them. The best approach is this:
1. Lower/control your daily calorie intake (control for normal
weight, lower for overweight).
2. Run/jog to lower your overall body fat percentage.
3. Target your problem areas with exercises.
an excellent exercise, you can do it in front of your TV: sit on a
stool, and put your toes under something (piece of heavy furniture,
for example). In your hands hold a little dumbbell. Please, make sure
that it is not very heavy, start with one kilo, for example, or you
will damage your back and spine! Slowly move the upper part of your
body back, until it’s parallel with the ground. Stop for a second and
move it back to the sitting position. Repeat ten times. Every week add
to the number of repetitions. You will see the results in a week,
guaranteed! You will see or feel under the fat - if you have any - six
pack and muscles. Dumbbells do wonders. Much better than these
crunches - I came up to three hundreds and there was no results AT
ALL. With the dumbbells you will see it in a week.

How many sit-ups does a chick have to do to get a six-pack?

October 22nd, 2010

I’m talking a small six-pack

You’d have to stick to a strict workout routine. It’s not a matter of "Do 500 sit ups and get a six pack". You have to keep doing sit-ups each day, and over time, you will get a six pack. For some women, getting defined muscle mass is difficult, so some may take hormones. I don’t recommend that. Just do anywhere from 30-60 sit ups a day, and then escalate to 60-150 sit ups a day.
Over time, it’ll show.

How do I properly ‘work out’ to gain muscle/abs/pecs?

October 21st, 2010

I have no access to a gym. I have ordered a chin up bar and some weights, but what do I do? How long per day should I work out? What should I do? Do I need to work dif. Days for upper body triceps biceps ect? If so how? With which thing (weights bar ect)? Is there anything else I can get? AND WHAT SHOULD I EAT? i am skiney too. BTW I am a 14 yr old male.

There are good books and websites that can teach a lot of exercises, but the basic principle is:

- for the most muscle growth, use a weight that is heavy enough that you can’t lift it more than around 6-8 times in a row.
-eat protein and carbs within an hour after working out
-don’t work the same muscles hard 2 days in a row. You can alternate upper and lower body, or chest and back, or biceps and triceps, etc.

Also, to work the back, use the chinup bar for pullups more than chinups.

How long does it take to get abs?

October 20th, 2010

I’ve been constantly training at least 3-4 days a week for the past 6 months or so. Although I’ve got a good muscular build now, I still have that stomach fat down on my stomach.

My diet at the moment isn’t the "healthiest", but I have a lot of restriction on "desserts", so I guess it can be considered healthier than average (I basically eat anything with a lot of protein in it, regardless of how much carbs or fat it has, eg milk, bread, pasta, cheese, etc).

I was hoping to cut up a bit before summer. I just wanted to know, from a general view point, if I’ve been constantly working out for 6 months and I change my diet to low carbs, low fat, high protein, how long would it take for me to see results (or, "good" results) on my abs?

BTW, my exercise routine at the moment does not involve "cardio" per se (just the usual chest, bi’s/tri’s, shoulders and back exercises). If did involve cardio when I went on this "diet", what kind of cardio is best? Eg. jogging, sprinting?

Also, are there any useful, "healthy" supplements I can use while on the "healthy" diet and exercising?

Thank you in advance

I think you should get Whey Protein powder, it works really well in helping you build muscle after a workout. Take it within an hour after your workout (it’s best immediately after). Do NOT take it before your workout, it can actually have negative effects (you should never work out with a stomach full of liquids.

Also, work your ab muscles if you want to see results in your ab muscles. That statement was kind of common sense, no? Your routine suggests that you simply work your upper body while completely ignoring your stomach, so no wonder you have a belly. Running definitely helps with weight loss, but it promotes lean muscle and so a lot of body builders tend to avoid that. As long as you’re not looking to get "ripped" or anything you should run at least once a week, maybe more.

Swimming is another good exercise. I try to swim at least once a week. It stimulates every muscle in your body so you get a pretty even workout. That should definitely help you burn some fat.
