Im a girl. I have a LITTLE tummy flab. If I do crunches/sit ups (or what good exercises are good for stomach?) an hour each day, how long will it take to flatten tummy and maybe even get a lil abbbss?
haha i’m thirteen (:
A few weeks to a few months, depending on how much fat is covering your abs and how hard you work. Just don’t over work it by exercising too much/too often…once a day sounds a bit much, try Monday/Wednesday/Friday, or Tues/Thurs/Sat, for example. Never work out your muscles if they’re still sore from the last time you worked them; they need time to heal (which also means growing). You will actually make faster progress if you let the rest all the way, then if you rush it all the time and keep them damaged.
And drink water before and after you work out. Eat afterward, too–I know it seems like eating is the wrong idea if you’re trying to LOSE weight, but if you don’t eat and drink enough, you’ll just lose body water instead of fat. You’ll lose muscle too, because your body will try to adjust itself so that it doesn’t have as much muscle mass to keep up after.
So, a good idea is to try crunches like every other day, at least 8 crunches (depending on how much you can do, you can slowly work up to 50, for example–SLOWLY AND GRADUALLY >:|, over several weeks). Do groups of 8 or whatever for about 15 to 30 minutes. For example: 8, break for a few minutes, 8, break, 8, break. Water. Eat a good (HEALTHY) meal within a few hours.
You can also try "pyramids": 8, 9, 10, 9, 8. Or 8, 8, 10, 10, 12, 12, 10, 10, 8, 8. Whatever works. If anything is hurting you, stop doing it and change what you’re doing–you don’t want to have early arthritis or a badly torn muscle.
Oh, BY THE WAY: Since you’re a girl, it’s natural that you have some fat (a little more than boys). I don’t know how old you are, for all I know you could be 5 or 25, but it depends on your age–if you’re around hitting puberty (9 - 14 or so) then know that you’ll probably end up losing some fat areas naturally pretty soon, since your body will be reshaping itself. If you’re not a teen yet then it’s really not a good idea to work out too hard. Remember to #1, eat healthy. It is more important and more effective than working out.
